Cool morning; changing to beautiful conditions by noon.
Early grey skies gave way to blue filled with puffy white.
Breezes were light to gusty. Temps in the low 60's to high 70's.
Plenty of hands were on hand for setup due to Joe's traffic based delay.
Early crowds portend some promising action.
First flight of the day went to TR's Mars Lander on a B6-2. See below for more info....
TR Garman sits behind the "little" Mars Lander from a kit by SemRoc. The SemRoc version is based upon the original Estes Mars Lander from 1969.
John Haught with the 2x scale version of the Lander from a Tango Papa kit from a decade or more ago. John bought the kit years ago and built most of it before turning it over to TR for completion.
John began work on a Lander Royale based upon a 36" main airframe and a 75mm motor. TR will be in charge of printing parts and decals and recovery.
Updates will be posted here as work progresses....
First launch of the day proved to be a tough one for the little lander as the parachute deployed just as the craft made contact with the leg of the low power pads. Damage such as this is notoriously difficult to repair but don't be surprised to see this little oddball fly again.
Hidden under that hat is Rick Shubert as he preps his Purple People Eater for flight.
