Jerry Andre builds some of the more interesting rocket designs of TRIPOLI Pittsburgh members. Almost none of Jerry's rockets are just the standard "4 fins and a nose cone".

The Emerald Fire is no exception.

Note the tail of the Emerald Fire has changes in airframe diameter as well as additional fins. A testament to Jerry's affinity for the classic Intercepter design.

Jerry listens to the beeps of his altimeters while loading the Emerald Fire at the high power pads.
The Emerald Fire lifts off on a J-540 red motor (at right) and soon after weathercocks into the wind (inset).

Breezes kicked up a little just before Jerry's flight but the big rocket had no problem coping.
The little puff at left deploys the main parachute on Jerry Andre's Emerald Fire.
Even the parachute and streamer is green on the aptly named Emerald Fire.

Not only that, but Jerry got the big model to drop right into the infield for an easy recovery. Not many were able to recover so close to home at the breezy August launch.

As always, nice job Jerry!
