Flyers: 18
Flights: 47

TRIPOLI Pittsburgh has a steady flow of student flyers and July was no exception. The Dragon's Fire Field sits within an hour or so of 3 major universities: West Virginia University (WVU), the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) and Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). TRIPOLI Pittsburgh had flyers from all 3 in July.
Student Flyers
WVU student Mike Borkowski readies his Guardian for its flight.

Mike is a regular at TRIPOLI Pittsburgh launches for the last few years.
First time flyer, WVU student Zara Zervos with her Racing Stripes rocket.

Zara successfully flew the Stripes for her Level 1 certification flight.

Congrats Zara!
Peter Pak poses with his perfectly printed projectile project.

Peter is a CMU PhD student in Mechanical Engineering and is new to TRIPOLI Pittsburgh.

His printed project flew on an Aerotech J-500 for his Level 2 Certification attempt.
Deployment issues caused Peter's printed project to plug into peat.

When asked about a possible re-print, Peter said, "Parts are already done and the rest will be completed soon." Peter said he will be back in September or November to try again.

Hang in there Pete!

WVU student Cory Kinder loads his rocket Nero onto the high power pads.

Cory outfitted the Nero with a live video feed system using a DJI air unit and DJI goggles.

Cory watches the launch of the Nero via the onboard video feed through his goggles.

The camera in Cory's Nero rocket is mounted perpendicular to the airframe resulting in pictures that view straight out from the side of the rocket.

Onboard shots below.
Luckily Cory's Nero came down short of the tree line down the hill towards the river.

It landed in an area that we in the landscaping crew like to refer to as the
Hellish-filled-with-poison-ivy-and-thorns-that-rip-your-arms-and-legs-to-shreads-and-snakes Meadow.

Be sure to check it out if you get the chance.

We at TRIPOLI Pittsburgh would like to thank all of our student flyers for coming out and participating in our little circus'.

And to any student that may read this and has not been to a TRIPOLI Pittsburgh launch.... come on out!
