Winner of the 2023 George Pike Award, Casey Andre was out in May showing his stuff.

Casey has a rack for his rockets that he sets up for each launch and May was no exception, which explains (at least in part) why he is always in the running for the George Pike Award. Casey flys a lot of rockets. And this year it seems as if he is vying for yet another award.

While Casey had his rack full of rockets for the days launch his biggest flight was the first of the day for him: The Big Nuke.

A straight track such as this is indicative of a couple of things.

One is that Casey knows how to build good rockets. Well aligned fins and proper balance contribute to great flights.

Another is that Casey chose the right time of day to fly. He knows that earlier in the day the winds tend to be lighter which is why he flew the Big Nuke as his first of the day in the morning.

Well done Casey!
Casey's Big Nuke decends nicely under parachute easily to be found. But....
As is common these days, the brush kept the Big Nuke from being found through traditional search methods and the drone crew needed to be called in.

The drone located the Big Nuke after a couple of minutes searching and waited on station until Casey and his father Jerry were able to pinpoint it.

Jerry shows his appreciation to the drone.

In Addition, Casey's Big Nuke flight set the Mile High contest bar higher than anyone else at 4612'. So far for 2024, Casey is the Mile High leader.
